How to choose the right IBC for my needs?

IBC or Intermediate Bulk Containers can be used for the transport and storage of liquids such as juice, dairy, syrup, chemicals, glue, oil and many more.

In many cases the factories that produce glue or oil or such products require an IBC with a poly liner inside for one time use. They use the IBC again with a new poly liner bags to avoid contamination.

The best way to select the optimal IBC bulk container is to break it to several steps as follow:

1. Insulation

2. Ease of inserting the poly liner

3. Weight and strength of the IBC

4. Price of sale or rent

Insulation:

Do you transport food ingredients?

If you transport fruit juice or milk etc. you should consider a food grade IBC container.

If your product is sensitive to high or low temperatures the insulation is a key factor so you should select a thick wall PP or HDPE wall for better insulation.

Easy to handle:

With some IBC containers inserting the poly liner bag can be quite a challenge! Prefer containers with folding walls so it’s easy to insert and fill the poly bags. The box should fit well with your logistics system.

Specifications:

It is important to choose the right IBC container for your kind of liquid! Check the specific gravity of your liquid so we can calculate the dynamic load required for the container. The IBC must be strong and able to deal with the way it is used in the production, storage, loading, unloading and discharge of the goods.

Is it better to buy or rent IBC?

It depends on your situation. Most factories prefer to rent and let an external expert in plastic packaging such as Plastic2go to manage it for them so they can repair or replace the containers as required.
